EDIT: If this is true, what level does my character need to be in order to have a chance to roll +2 skills on an amulet dropped byt diablo, nihlatak or baal?|||The resulting ilvl needs to be 90+. The formula is (input ilvl+clvl)/2=ilvl. So you can gamble/craft at level 92 for 100% chance for ilvl90(giving you the opertunity for +2skills.
Forgive my spelling it's late|||Quote:

How do I figure out the ilvl of an amulet, then?|||I depends on where it comes from, if it is dropped the ilvl is the same as the monster lvl(Baal and Nihl are lvl 99 so your garanteed a shot at 81+). If you gamble it's -4 to +5 your clvl. If you play SP GoMule(and Atma for that matter) will tell you the ilvl of any item.|||Quote:

Ok, thank you for the quick reply. I just have one more question, if a gambled items ilvl is -4 to +5 your clvl, wouldn't you need to be at least lvl 94 for a 100% chance of ilvl 90, or did I misunderstand what you said earlier?|||Quote:

This is not entirely correct. Since DII uses integer arithmetic (ie. truncates fractions) ilvl/2 + clvl/2 is not equal to (ilvl + clvl) / 2.
The correct formula is: new_ilvl = old_ilvl/2 + clvl/2

Actually it is from -5 to +4, and you have to be clvl 93 to gamble and craft amulets with the same character and be guaranteed a chance of +2 skills.
EDIT:
Example clvl = 93.
A gambled amulet has ilvl in {88 to 97}
Crafting on the amulet with the same char will yield:
new_ilvl = {88 to 97}/2 + 93/2 = {44 to 48} + 46 = {90 to 94}
(ie. all crafted amulets will have 90 <= ilvl <= 94)|||Quote:

Ok, I understand now. Thank you for clearing that up.|||Quote:

That you for the correction as I am tired and typing from memory.|||So If I read this correct my current lever of 93 is enough for all amulets to have an high enough lever for +2 skills?
Thought it was 95 earlier but new to crafting|||95 is where all gambled amulets that roll rare are able to get +2 skills, at level 93 20% of the gambled amulets that roll rare will not be able to get +2 skills. As described by Thomas you only need a level 93 char for crafting.
