Chance to drop uniques in nm/hell

[:1]"Elite Uniques" drops only in hell.

"Exceptional Uniques" drops in Nightmare+Hell.

"Normal Uniques" drops in all difficulties.

My question is this.

Does this mean that a 500%mf char(any char), has a greater chance to find an "Exceptional Unique" in Nightmare, than in hell?

This isn't accurate. For example, normal baal can drop the spirit shroud, an exceptional unique. There are other examples as well. Nightmare baal can drop Shako, as well as a slew of other elite uniques.

However, as to the question at hand, you can look up drop chances of particular items you are interested in with atma. There's also an online calculator: http://diablo2.ingame.de/tips/calcs/...lt&window=true|||Forgot about that!

Shako for instance has a 1:800+ chance to drop from Nm Baal.(with 500mf)

This however doesnt answer my question really. But Ill dig into that site!

Thx!|||MF doesn't determine the quality of items that drop. But you can say that it is easier to find an exceptional unique in nightmare than in hell since the pool of items that can drop is smaller.|||Quote:

As I suspected!

Thx!|||The reason I linked that site instead of directly answering your question is that it depends entirely on what item, and what boss/mob you're talking about.

For example HoZ is exceptional. With 500 MF:

Nightmare Meph: 1:2742

Hell Meph: 1:2289

So you're better off farming it from hell meph than nightmare meph. Your best bet is to look up the specific item you're interested in, instead of trying to get by on a "rule of thumb" that isn't always going to be true.

In the cases where the drop chance is better in nightmare, I honestly still recommend farming in hell anyway, you'll get more good stuff over-all, and you could easily trade that stuff for whatever it is you want.
