Mara's vs Seraph

Ok i've dont some research on this topic and i cant seem to see why Maras>seraph... all threads and posts ive looked at people just go "Mara > seraph end of story". or "if ur on a budget Seraph, if not mara's."

so here is my dilemmma. I have a hammerdin and I have the usualy gear for a hammerdin. (shako *cham'd*, HoZ *Um'd*, 2x soj, hoto, spirit, cta, arach, magfist, eth treks, 9x pcombs, 8x 7%mf's, anni, ptorch, and... mara's.) Maxes out at 17 or 18k hammer dmg i dont remember

My Mara's is a 28, and without its res bonus, i still max out at 75 in hell for all 4 divisions... so the res is really not a big deal. Which leaves only the +5 stats?

so heres my question... wouldn't the 2 defensive aura's boost synergy to Blessed Hammer be > 5 to all stats?, and if so, how much dmg boost will i recieve?

and does the dmg buff from Seraph apply to hammers? or just melee attack styles?

Im not trying to make a gg pally, i just want a very high Hammer dmg, and so far this is as good as i can get it at 18k... so i really dont care about having the 5 to all stats which is basically 15 to vitality (since i have 10 less points to use on str and dex) i excluded mana since insight and soj's, magefist, shako take care of mana and i wouldn't have put any points in it anyways.

so 15 vitality > 2 defensive aura's synergy?|||I'm not saying one is better than the other, but Mara's give more resists, so you can be more flexible with the rest of your gear. Also, it's really not bad to have your resists stacked a little.

Anyway, I'd say a nice crafter caster amulet beats both.|||Enhanced damage usually don't apply to spells (in the case of hammers only the conc aura does and at half effectiveness).

Only hard points count as synergies, i.e. only the 20 points spent in vigor count, +skills that affect vigor specifically won't add to your damage. So there's really nothing on Seraph's besides the +2 that helps you.

If you're already at 125 FCR all you can do to improve your char is get a +2 circlet/amulet with some nice stats.|||The '2 defensive aura's boost synergy to Blessed Hammer be > 5 to all stats?' does not work like you believe like hubb pointed out, ED doesn't work as hubb pointed out..

Cham really is not needed on a hdin|||According to your gear here is your Faster Cast Rate:

Quote:

0 shako *cham'd*

0 HoZ *Um'd*

0 2x soj

40 hoto

35 spirit

0 cta

20 arach

20 magfist

0 eth treks

0 mara's

You're only hitting 115% FCR. If we assume you do 17,500 damage per hammer and cast non-stop for a minute.

75% FCR puts out 150 hammers for 2,625,000 damage

125% FCR puts out 167 hammers for 2,916,667 damage

You can instantly increase your damage output by 11.1% by simply adding 10% more FCR to your build. Replacing your Mara's with a +2 skills 10 FCR amulet is probably the easiest solution.

When you get uber rich then it's time to discuss getting a 2 open socket +2 skills 20% FCR rare hat that let's you swap your Magefist for Chance Guards.|||mara's is better than seraph's hymn because seraph's just has +2 skills all of the other mods are useless for a hammerdin. only hard points in vigor increase hammer damage so the +2 def auras doesn't help your hammer damage. If you're not using a defensive aura it's pointless. and no +% damage to demons/undead doesn't work with blessed hammer.|||Id switch the magefists for trang gloves - 30cr.

Also, Id go for much lower damage hammers, but more MF. With 125 fcr you can kill with 11k hammers while having massive MF %.|||The point of maras is mainly the resist which helps max out resist in hell. Depends on how much extra you have to trade though. Even a 20 maras should only cost you an ist because it is the lowest it gets.|||As far as I can see, that gear isn't equipped gear, but available gear. There is no way to have hoto, hoz and spirit all equipped at the same time.|||Quote:
