Revives and mercs in UT?

[:1]Well somewhere here I am looking for an answer to whether any character could solo ut as a back up to merc and say 8 urdars revived with eternity runeword, given exceptional gear on the merc of course?|||i think necromancers can solo ubers with their own revive. not sure if eternity charges are high enough.|||Quote:

I remember reading once, that any build/class can solo ubers with the revive charges from Harmony. Not sure if this is true, since I haven't seen screenies nor tried it myself. Mephisto made quick work of my revives, skellies and merc once when I tried with my poisonmancer (just one pt in revive and summon resist before +skills), and my smiter had to finish the work.

You would likely be required to collect revives more than once and use some sort of slow poison to prevent uber regen while doing so, and the process would be slow. Could be doable though IMO.|||Like mackscynox says, it's definitely doable with a summonmancer, but I'm not sure I've ever seen it done with Revive charges. Skeleton mastery and Summon Resist are pretty key.

I wouldn't be surprised if you used up all the urdars in the game without having the ubers finished. They'll just die too often without SM/SR.|||Seems that all classes can solo it, just a matter of gear and build. But in this case I'm interested in knowing whether a caster sorceress could manage to kill the uber three with a very well geared merc using CB and say 8 urdars and backing it up with spells herself.

I get that infinity wouldn't help against Meph, which I assume would be the hardest by far and it being a pain in the behind to respec melee every time you want to do UT while the rest of game is easily done with a well geared caster...

Was hoping someone had tried it out.|||Even if it is doable, the process will be slow, as I mentioned. You time will be better spent leveling a dedicated smiter and making quick runs. Torches are so far down in price, that spending hours gathering organ sets and zooming back and forth to UT with new supplies of urdars until the ubers have finally been killed, just dosen't seem feasible (except ofc as a proof of concept and then only once).

I can fully understand your reluctance to "play like all others", but there is a reason why smiter paladins are popular UT-runners. Noone would use revives on a caster to gather torches for profit - for fun maybe a couple of times, but not profit IMO.|||Aye, but it has nothing to do with gathering profit.

And it'll be a while before I make my first paladin, if ever. =)

Thanks for the input, everyone.|||Quote:

Summon Resist doesn't apply to Revived and they already have +200% life without Skeleton Mastery, which applies +(5*slvl)% life and +(10*slvl)% Damage. However, pets take 400% damage from the uber bosses (mercenaries take 200% damage, and only apply 25% damage in return).

Mephisto has Poison Resist 110%, an immunity which can only be broken by a Necromancer's level >10 Lower Resist. The only ways to stop his damage regeneration are Open Wounds and skills applying fire damage per second (actually fire damage per frame: monsters do not regenerate damage in frames in which they take damage, so when they take damage every frame they do not regenerate).

Diablo is Immune to Fire (110%) and Cold (115%), as is Baal (115% and 185% respectively); uber Mephisto is Immune to Lightning (110%) and Poison (110%). Fire immunities can be broken with an Infinity polearm's Level 12 Conviction Aura When Equipped, as can Diablo's cold immunity: if some -% Enemy Fire Resistance is equipped and Blaze, Fire Wall or Meteor are used to stop damage regeneration then it might be possible to kill all three if mercenary and Revived can be kept alive (switching weapons will cause Revived to expire, so Marrowwalk Boneweave Boots might be needed for Life Tap charges).

There's still the issue of the Pit Lords summoned by Diablo, which are always Immune to everything except physical damage. Although they don't have to be killed, their presence could interfere with Revived (attacking Pit Lords instead of the uber bosses) and Sorceress.
