Socketing Ethereal

[:1]1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon = Socketed Weapon of same type

Does this work for ethereal items. On battle.net, it says it doesn't work for superior or low level, but what about ethereal?
