High resistance great vs PvP spellcasters?

[:1]While I was trading, someone was impressive I have a 111 all resist shield and said it would be great on PvP against Sorcs, Necro and Druid.

For me, I highly doubt that since most magic spells do over 1K damage.

Could that be possible or just wishful thinking?

Btw, Shield + Griswold set = 161 all resist on Normal.|||Speaking of topic, yes high resistances are great in pvp. But I'm not sure what's this about:

Stacking high cold resistance is essential against cold sosos. Against fire, lightning and poison dmg items with +to max resistance and %absorb/integer absorb (poison length reduction) will be better.|||Quote:

You're forgotting the 1/6 PVP penalty and that bone skills deal magic damage, so elemental resistances are useless.
