is this a possibility

[:1]+3 oak sage and 3 sockets in a druide helmet?

- D.J.|||A druid helm needs an ilvl of 26 to get 3 sockets and at that ilvl, a tier 2 staffmod like oak sage has a chance of only 10% to occur and has to be the right one as well. So yes, it's possible, but pretty hard to get.|||See the Uzziah's guide for more details about staffmod allocation. You would want the ilvl to be at least 26 to get the possibility of 3 sockets, but no more than 36 to preserve the 10% chance of tier 2 skills. Also remember that even once you get a staffmod, 70% of the time it is +1 to the skill, 20% of the time is +2 to the skill, and 10% of the time it is +3 to the skill. So plan on looking for a while! I think normal cows is ilvl 28, so that may be a good choice.|||Quote:

Yes, that might be worth mentioning as well |||Just to get a sense of scale here:

I'm not sure of a the number of white (or naturally 3-socket) druid hats that drop on a typical normal cow run, but let's say for the sake of argument it's about 5 (seems generous to me!) How many cow runs are we looking at, approximately on average, to find such a pelt?

Each staffmod has a 10% chance of getting a tier 2 skill, and there are 6 tier 2 druid skills (Oak Sage, Summon Spirit Wolf, Werebear, Molten Boulder, and Arctic Blast) so there is a 10/6 % chance each staffmod is Oak Sage. Of those, 10% will be +3.

40% of pelts just have one staffmod, 20% have 2 and 10% have 3 staffmods (and 30% have none.) So on average there are .4+.4+.3=1.1 staffmods/pelt on pelts that have them.

So the chance that a given pelt will have +3 oak sage is about .10/6 * .1 *1.1 = .00183 = .183% chance. So at 5 pelts/run, we could expect about 100 normal cow runs or so.

(Yes, there are several simplifications there and I'm guessing on the number of pelts per run but I just wanted to get a rough idea!)|||From Uzziah's guide, is it possible to make +3 summon skeleton, +2 necro skill necro head? That will be one trophy to show off.|||Summon skeleton is a tier 1 staffmod which needs a low item level while +2 necro needs a high affix level (which are two different things). The 6 pskull recipe can produce a rare item with both of it if performed repeatedly by a character with a very low level and an elite necro head.

It's impossible together with +3 summoning because that needs a magical item and there's no way to produce one with the mentionend restrictions on ilvl and alvl at the same time.|||According to the German affix calculator site, only the top two heads (succubus skull and bloodlord skull) are capable of getting +2 Necro (or +2 Summoning) on rares with ilvl 1. So those are possible but of course not likely.

One possible method for a rare +3 RS/+3 SM staffmod head with +2 all necro or +2 summoning would be to imbue a succubus or bloodlord skull with a lvl 8 character and then reroll it repeated with 6 pskulls with a lvl 1 character. But count on that taking lots of skulls!

A plain or 2 socket +3 RS/+3SM head that dropped in early A1 could be made into Splendor which would only have one less skill than the heads mentioned above and seems much more feasible to make.
