Or do enemies have to hit a minion to recieve thorns damage?|||The pvp penalty + melee requirement makes it rather useless I'm afraid, but returned damage still works if your opponent hits a summon. Against BM barbs I sometimes use iron maiden with my necro and cast a few bone walls ...
http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...d.php?t=736400|||It sais the reflected damage is reduced by 1/6 pvp penaltly aswell? Thats the last piece really making it useless.
But is this so?
minions get full damage though, so even the reduced and reflected damage should be respectable.
Im thinking about thorns merc vs WW-barbs.
Should be unbeatable for them?
wait... 1000% / 8 =125% retuned damage / 6 = 20%.
Thats riduculously little xD
But how comes IM still hurts people like you said? Or is it because IM is superior to thorns?|||http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXDJQb3h8Xc Jary

I haven't test with the Desert mercenary's Thorns alone but...
The character or summon return damage is great with the Edge and Bramble
BM PvP but I have used Fire/Cold Rogue: CoA,
Edge Great Bow (15) + Eth-Bugged Bramble (21) = 36 Thorns
With tankable BvA/C (7K+ Life), Shock-Pure Summoner (Druid 3.5K+ and Bear-form 5K+ Life) and Hammer-Smite Paladin (5.3K+ Life)
Inexperienced and pure close combat players will die within 1 ~ 3 hits average|||@MakeLoveNotDupe:
look that smiter recieved around 3k damage right?
This means, if 1/6 pvp penalty is applied while calculating reflected damage, he would have smited with 18k smite. Is this a legit smiter damage?
Otherwise it would mean the reflected damage is not cut to 1/6 for pvp penalty?
