Which level 85 area(s) has a small area yet tons of monsters?

[:1]So currently I mf at The Pits 1 and 2. It takes too long to clear though and I was wondering if there are other areas that have more monster (or equal amount of monsters) but has a smaller area (so I can kill them all faster)? I really want to find a high rune... I have yet to find one yet. The highest rune I have found was a Sur/Ohm (or Cham but its not really a high rune) |||Pits has a pretty good size to monster ratio actually, and is best suited for any type of physical or poison build.

Ancient tunnels (lost city) is also very good, it will have less monsters, but is smaller. It is best for a cold build, as there are no natural cold immunes.

I think pits are better for rune finding than AT though, but that's just my opinion.

If you really want runes go kill the council, they are really the best place IMO.|||Nothing can beat WSK in terms of rune hunting. Monsters there spawn in large packs and stay close.

edit: i was comparing wsk vs other 85lvl locations, councils are of course better speaking of rune hunting.|||Which counciles? Trav or Meph?|||Either one, but trav is much easier to find ofc. WSK is also very good, but it is one of the toughest areas in the game, and unless you have good wealth, it can be tough for a lot of characters.|||Pits are single best all around area in diablo. Tons of monsters and area can drop everything. Nice XP in full player games, and teleporting poison necro can wipe p8 pits in a bit more then one minute.

Runes DO drop. Ofc it's not mine, but as you can see, runes do drop in pits This is seven days rune haul iirc.|||How'd that person get the runes to be green? O_O|||Its single player, you can change the color of them in SP. So yes, we've had colored runes since like patch 1.10 or so

Why is the council the place with the highest rune drop? I don't think I have been very lucky with them a lot.|||The highest monster densities among L85 areas are in WSK 1-3, Baal's Throne Room and the CS.

The Pits are of average density, but it has a crowded second level and the monsters are easy to kill. There are no PIs there, not even stoneskin bosses.
